Kiko KhanAnyone got a couple of good spy thriller suggestions?

Kim Jee-woon's The Age of Shadows (2016) Currently available on Korean DVD.

A Korean spy thriller sounds intriguing, good stuff, will give it a go, thanks Black Philip!

DeschainI watched The Accountant starring Ben Affleck, John Lithgow, Jay Jonah Jameson, George Bluth Sr., The Punisher, and my future wife Anna Kendrick. Great cast. Solid flick. There's a reveal late in the movie that I predicted right at the beginning but then again it got me with a different reveal. But yeah, liked it.

Interesting suggestions, will check them out, thanks Deschain!

Nikita used to be my all time favorite film, it's still one of the best thrillers.

Vladimir777So I watched Don't Breathe the other night. I will admit I didn't give it my 100% attention, but I didn't really get the hype. I love me a good thriller, although I prefer straight horror for pure entertainment value, but I respect the thriller a ton as an art form. I really didn't find it that thrilling, and there were just so many ridiculous and over-the-top things going on that I couldn't even take it seriously. What did you guys think?

It's exceptionally well shot and edited with equally great sound design and that carries the film despite it's narrative deficiencies. The dialogue was atrocious. I liked the way it toyed with character sympathies and settled heavily into the ambiguity of it all. Kept it from being a didactic moral play.

I thought Don't Breathe was a great little film, could easily watch it again in a few months, and pretty innovative when it comes to the backstory of the antagonist and what he kept in the basement and why. It kept me on the edge of my seat all the way to the end. The dialogue could have been better like MKS points out. Vladimir777 what was it that pushed you over the edge in regards to ridiculous and over the top things?

Ah, Don't Breathe.? Honestly my only real issue with the film is the the tall one being so similar to Jared Leto's character from Panic Room.? Wondered if he was transported from one movie to the other. ;)

I think you're probably right re Leto, Don't Breathe is clearly inspired by Panic Room, and you can see it in the end credit homage, a clear nod to Fincher's opening credits in Panic Room. Still if that's the only issue you have with the film, it's a small one!?Overall I think Don't Breathe is a well crafted and great little thriller!

I don't go to the movies often these days even though I love it, it's mainly because of the lack of films that attract me, too often I find even independent genre films these days have some sort of art house ambitions with them and blockbusters are just too superficial. Christopher Nolan, James Cameron, David Fincher, maybe Ridley Scott and a few other random exceptions can draw me in. Don't Breathe succeeded in capturing my attention and I watched it on the big screen, and I must say that I thought it was exceptionally good for what it is, a thrill ride. Sure it has some aspects that could be improved on but overall I thought it was a brilliant thriller.

Rupture might be a good thriller if you like films like 10 Cloverfield and Don't Breathe, etc.
