After basically going into hibernation and being tuned out of news coverage since the inauguration, I watched the nightly news for the first time in months, just to see the eclipse coverage, or anything to distract from Trump. But what do both the local station and CBS network do less than five minutes into the coverage? They show a picture of Goddamn Trump watching the eclipse. They couldn't leave tRump out of just one story? ?Pathetic

TWTCommishI actually think of it all the time, but only because I once searched for it on IMDB without paying much attention and typed "basts of the slurthern" and it's still there on recent searches, so I see it semi-regularly.

Haven't even seen the film yet.

Are you the TMTCommish of yore? ?I remember a guy with that handle back in the early 2000s

Wow, the Kateland forum page looks so much more advanced graphically than what this site has become. ?

crumbsroomI occasionally think of how hard this movie tried to not be terrible and cringe.

Awful movie.

What didn't you like about it?

Actually, I was just talking about it a few weeks ago. I'd still give it ***/****

They were less confident than other reliable prediction sites by a significant margin. Also, they do a lot of other really smart work with data.

Yeah but how do you explain such a huge discrepancy in what the polls showed versus what the actual returns were? I mean, they had Clinton taking 60% of the Electoral College on Election Day I believe. Many polls state they have a margin of error of 3-5% but this had to be more than 15%. ?Any margin over 5% should not be published at all.

Ivan the Terrible
I've been noticing that on Five Thirty Eight. His polls are still abysmal, but the disapproval rating is actually dropping slightly while the approval rating is still roughly the same.

Ivan, I wouldn't trust anything from 538. After all, they predicted that Clinton would win all the way up til Election Day and even had Georgia as a "Blue" state at one point. I'm surprised that they are even still around, considering the tragic consequences that have resulted from their faulty poll data.

Now there is a blast from the past. I had to check the registration date to be sure it was really him. Good to see he is still posting.

4) Trump is suffering from progressive dementia.

I don't really buy the whole dementia thing. He is just EVIL plain and simple. Just chaotic evil as opposed to lawful evil. By assigning a mental illness, it somehow lets him off the hook, when in reality he has the blood of millions on his hands. Worse, it lumps him in with the groups that really have dementia and trivializes the disease. If I had a relative that has dementia I sure wouldn't want Trump as the poster boy for that disease.

With that said, in a way I hope he does have dementia. And I hope he dies from it, painfully, slowly, publicly, and embarrassingly, and without destroying the whole world in the process.

I was in Portland exactly 20 years ago, 1997. One of the things we went to was movie night at some park way up in the hills west of town. They were showing 16 mm films made by local filmmakers. One of them was called The Stolen Toyota, which was quite funny. Most of the others were enjoyable too. Very well made.

Anyway, the whole thing almost didn't happen. The crew could not get the large white viewing screen up. Finally after a few minutes they just improvised by pulling up the big old box truck (that they used to carry all the equipment) in front of the projector and just projected the films onto the side panel. It worked quite well.

It was a good time, but I doubt they do stuff like that anymore.

EpitoooozyThis certainly explains the post count for someone who only registered in 2012.

This account averages less than 6 posts per day, Epitoooozy.

Oh, Yeah? Mine averages 0.12 a day!
What's weird though is that you've been here a lot longer than 2012, right?

I didn't even realize till the end of the movie that the mineweeper was only bombed and sunk once and they were just filming that scene from three different perspectives. For the entire film I thought three different lookalike ships had tipped over and sunk in eerily similar way. I thought at the time, is any of these ships ever going to get out without being bombed?

Any one else take a while to realize this?

Yes, I am sure a lot do, because regardless of what page a new thread was started in (GD, OT, or any of the splinter movie forums) my understanding is that they were all assigned a consecutive number that was not exclusive to any forums (For example, Topic ID #100001 could have been an LVC thread and Topic RD #100002 could have been a GD thread posted a few minutes (or even seconds) later. When all the splinter forums were eliminated (probably sometime in 2004 buy maybe later) all those old splinter Topic ID numbers fell under the umbrella of OT.

I remember many years ago just typing consecutive numbers after the URL and all sorts of splinter forums would show up as well as tons of OT and GD. I was trying to find an old thread I posted but only had some vague idea of the date I posted. It was amazing how many threads were posted in a day back then among all forums. ?I gave up after only going through a couple of months but perhaps a couple of thousand individual URL IDs.

So yeah, a lot of LVC threads still may exist, but unless you specifically remember creating a thread or replying to it in LVC or have prior knowledge that they did originate in LVC (such as the one I just posted) there is no way of really discerning it from OT threads from the same era. And how many posters are still around to even remember that era?

I would just like to see the old LVC home page when it was laid out just like OTs with the thread title, author, views, # or replies, last posters name and time, etc. But that appears to have never been archived.

Jason RI was Mysterious on the Lee Van Cleef forum.

I just tried to find the old LVC page through archive.org. There were hundreds of screen captures for rotten tomatoes itself and you could click on the forum page for some dates. But I couldn't get past the forum title page for the 2002-2003 LVC era to see actual threads. Unless someone knows the exact original URL for the old Lee Van Cleef page, it's impossible to dredge up any screenshot of what that page may have looked like back in the day. Even if they did, I doubt that it could be found anywhere in archive.org. I just didn't think they went that deep beyond the home page.

But some of the LVC threads still exist, such as the one below from early 2003. In fact, I remember this one because Sehn and others at RT were getting quite concerned about the spread of splinter forums or "Hijacked forums", as he liked to put it. Of course, this actual thread looks nothing like it would have in 2003, other than the wording of the text. Member AVs, graphics, backgrounds, font types, etc, have all changed. None of those old AVs are preserved. I even suspect that some of posts of long-ago deleted members do not show up here.

Very Big Buns. ?I wonder whatever happened to him.

Ah yes, the LVC forum. Your named does sound familiar. If I recall correctly, many of the original Off-Topic RTers slowly started creating their own forums based on a particular movie: E. G The Breakfast Club once they discovered you could create threads on any movie or actors page. LVC was by far the most popular. I don't know who long it lasted but eventually Sehn or other RT staffers just eliminated all those splinter forums and all the threads therein were just migrated over to Off Topic with their original thread numbers intact.

Those certainly were the heady days of RT.
