If it makes you feel better, Janson, that Snowman has some of the best review quips I've ever seen

"It's bad. A bit of a full-on Nesboner, in fact."

Sorcerer Supreme NamelessHe realllly wants me to watch The Lobster... ugh! I KNOWWWW

Excellent film. ?And that Maid is a tiger.

Literally? I feel like I got possessed by the idea of the film without having seen it, but I do want to confirm my suspicions here... but something something curiosity *shifty eyes*

Sorcerer Supreme NamelessI swear to God if the world is legitimately revolving around me, even if for a moment... I mean, fuck, there's a movie called "The Killing of a Sacred Deer". It's like someone is rooting around my inside jokes and making a reality out of them and, sure, fine, OKAY. COOL

As long as you preserve Lanthimos' final cut, we should be on clear ground. ?And keep him away Brie Larson!

*nods affirmingly*

I need to have a chat with that rotten reviewer. There is no reason this shouldn't be a solid 100% with an 8/10 average... dammit!

Janson JinnistanIt's all Nameless' fault anyway. All of it.

Can my ego be any more inflated? Eh, I'll take it

DaMUI tried watching it again recently and got about 30 minutes in before I remembered what kneecapped the film - it's so busy evoking images and moments from the series that it leaves the characters little room to express real wonder and interest in their environment. It doesn't help that putting the video game story on-screen makes its Jacob's Ladder elements feel less fresh. Even so, it's one of the most honorable and watchable of video game adaptations (assuming you value sincerity over camp trash like Double Dragon, which has not-inconsiderable accidental pleasures).

I haven't seen Double Dragon but I definitely give that respect to The Street Fighter Movie which has some wonderful bits of comedy and self aware cheese (Zangief is just a hoot). I'll have to watch that

It did feel rushed, and I feel like it was an extra 30 minutes away from being a well realized adaptation in the sense where they could branch over to the next film and make a legit franchise out of it as opposed to that random sequel which dropped out of nowhere and apparently was ultra bad. It's hard to fault it's enthusiasm towards the subject but I feel you there. The bell curve I grade it on is flimsy at best

Janson JinnistanOctober, must see:

The Snowman

A thriller from Tomas Alfredson starring Michael Fassbender. ?Only violent restraint will keep me away.

It's very disappointing that this is being universally shat upon. With Alfredson directing as well as the likes of Michael Fassbender, Rebecca Ferguson and J.K. Simmons starring, how could it be a dud? It's a giant black hole in this weekend when it should have been a glowing (and, well, icy and bloody) star.

I wasn't huge on Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy (I figured that shit out after the opening scene, it's a perfect example of pretentious filmmaking) so I'm not exactly surprised at the one hit wonder air Snowman brings. I think that Alfredson is worth watching regardless because even TTSS had moments of unexpected brilliance (flaming owl whatever, wtf was that!?), just not worth a theater ticket

I dunno, looking at the movies there is a looooooot I'm interested. No mystery on what the hell to do for the rest of the year, these trees bear fruit

Ooo are we throwing around love for Silent Hill? As a big fan of the games, I thought it was as good as a movie adaptation could be, and easily my favorite video game to movie production. It's unique, I can't really think of a solid comparison between it and any other horror flick. The narrative is a bit lopped but the atmosphere and art direction is up there. I have images from the film burned into my memory, the barb wire sequence being up there. It captures that video game sense of vulnerability where you feel the tension of the protagonist, and that's hard to pull off

Hmmmmmm

It's hard for me to go against my convictions like this

uh

prooooobably every Charles Kaufman movie if I ever decide to watch any of them again. I routinely hate his movies save for Eternal Sunshine. How old do you have to be to like Kaufmans?

I mean, I've tried watching The Godfather soooo many times and it just doesn't work, and people are all over The Godfather

I sincerely think that movies either live and grow or die and decompose in this brain of mine

Genie did good work and, yeah, this could either be fluff or it could be internet trickery/hackery. I'm still frosty over this but I'll calm it down here and keep my business between the family and I. Hopefully Hazel understands through the thick of his disorder

Again, an internet savvy person is capable of altering his or her location, along with figuring out login information, and that this could even be the work of more than one person. But I don't want to dive into conspiracy because as Genie mentioned, it's a trail well swept. So, let's just leave it as I had my say here, and that the business with Todd is still 100% real in my immediate life

The internet is horrifying, and incredible. No doubt about that

Sorcerer Supreme NamelessI've been meaning for another sit down with Silence of the Lambs

It's playing here on the big screen for Halloween! Double feature with Texas Chainsaw!

That sounds amazing :o what's the theater like? Are we talking modern or some dank and dusty pit?

Popcorn ReviewsI wonder if lux is going to come into this thread to defend Hazelrabbit.

Seriously, I'd defend Hazelrabbit. This is just a different beast altogether. This is not a call out drama thread, I'm 100% dead serious about this

Could have been the original Hazelrabbit and this copycat is someone from Nameless?s real life haunting him on the internet.

That's what I'm thinking. I mean, Hazelrabbit left his photobucket pretty out in the open and it's not hard to adhere to that formula. "Kevin" is what really made me go "something's fucky". Common enough name but yeah, it started to feel personal at that point. I ignored it to a point, that point being all of two days ago when I got what was more or less confirmation that there is a reality to all of this, and I'm being careful here for a reason. I can't afford to say too much, and I already feel that feeling where I'm not precisely sure of the line between reality and fiction but idk, this is more than a hunch. I'm at the place of "why?", like, come the fuuuuuuuuuck ooooooooon seriously?

Honestly I?ve always had a feeling that what?s been popping up isn?t actually Hazel. Maybe Genie can do some IP sleuthing and possibly give you some confirmation/peace of mind in this situation.

This would be most good. I mean, he's, like, my neighbor... god. WHAT THE FCCuuhguhggrwhl;g
COME ON

I was always sympathetic towards the og (?) Hazelrabbit because, well, I just don't know any better. There is no evidence beyond words, and fucked up pictures and sentiments, on the internet. That's where I'm at here as well where there just isn't enough to put together a case more than to simply call it all out. It's a respect I offer everyone in regards to myself and yeah, I've been an awful abusive prick and I deserve the roast, but this... this is a huge step beyond the boundaries of okay.

So, like, is North Korea still pointing nuke-dicks at the west coast? CAN Y'ALL KIDS JUST SETTLE DOWN? TRYING. TO. SLEEP

Ugh, seriously, how the hell am I supposed to deal with my immediate concerns when Trump is busy driving the nails of existential despair up our butts? What a ruckus, seriously
