The Mega Man / REM / Journey one on page 2 is really something.

And Super Mario 3 and Gustav Holst? Brilliant, but I never picked up and that before.

Most famous though, might be "Mighty Wings" from Top Gun and Ken's Theme from Street Fighter 2. Even though I never noticed that one either.

I'm sure there are other examples.

 So you're telling me this whole time I was playing Chrono Trigger I was really being Rick Rolled?

I can live with that.

It's funny how videogames are constantly borrowing from other sources. I have a working theory that the plot to RE4 is loosely based on Gymkata. The presidents daughter is kidnapped and held hostage in some creepy eastern European village? A lot of the shots from the film share an uncanny resemblance to the levels and characters in RE4.

That link is amazing!

As for Gymkata, I haven't seen it.

I'm glad I didn't know about that connection prior to witnessing the greatest rickroll of all time. (3:20)

I don't think it's as blatant in the real version of Rock's song, but yeah, definitely an homage in there. Great song regardless, and to be fair that's only a small part of it.

I assume somebody has already posted it, but the most blatant rip-off in my eyes has always been the Metal Gear Solid theme, AKA Sviridov's Winter Road. Goes way beyond homage or reference, and Konami used it for multiple games before somebody actually questioned them on it.

A lot of Capcom games share a horror themed track that I once heard in an episode of X-Files and maybe even in the film Constantine. I can't remember which episode it was but it's all but confirmed to be fair use.

Devil May Cry - Basement

Capcom vs SNK 2 - True Spirit (rooftop with Akuma)

Resident Evil: Code Veronica - Suspended Doll

What...what does it mean? What does it mean?! WHAT DOES IT ALL MEAN!!!!???

Kenji Yamamoto is the ****ing Elder God of all plagiarists. Steals tons of music for an assload of Dragonball Z games across an entire decade, gets hired by Toei to do their Kai music, AND DOES IT AGAIN.

I like how he ripped off James Horner who constantly rips off himself.

That's awesome! I love Stuart Gordon's Dagon, should have seen the similarities sooner with all those cthulhu-like tentacle monsters.

Another example of this would be RE1 borrowing from the film Scarecrows(1988). A group of military fatigue wearing, cigar chomping vigilantes crash land their plane in an abandoned field, then must take shelter in a nearby farmhouse from a bunch of evil scarecrows that are stalking them.

This guy undoubtedly served as inspiration for Barry
