Sorry dude, that would be The Lobster. And La La Land is better than Rogue One and even La La Land kinda sucked.

Black PhilipBest Palm D'or movie of the year - The Handmaiden or The Lobster IMO.

Seriously, The Handmaiden deserved it over Ken Loach's latest social drama I, Daniel Blake

Best Oscar Bait movie of the year - Moonlight (and it fucking won!)

The handmaiden i saw only this year, lobster is alright and i still ain't seen Moonlight

Are you kidding? The second have contained some of the best darkly comedic scenes. Especially the ending.

Wut... the minute they left that hotel, there was zero comedy.

Or maybe it was just too high brow for me?

Apex PredatorThe problem of one joke films is that there's not enough sustaining it when the joke runs out of gas.

I see what you did there.

Apex PredatorTower (2016): The animation is more distracting than impressive and you don't get a sense of what the killer is thinking, but its individual stories of courage and trying to make sense of the 1964 shooting at the University of Texas proves powerful anyway.

I felt the same way about the omission of any background on Charles Whitman. It would have been a nice empathetic complement to the various stories of the survivors to note the fact that Whitman's acts were most likely the result of a brain tumor, and that Whitman himself seemed to be cognizant of his condition, which was only verified in his autopsy. As it is, the film presents him more as a kind of impersonal force of evil rather than someone acting out of suffering and confusion.

Apex PredatorGlenn Ander's shifting performance keep it from being a great film noir.

I prefer the adjective "shifty", and fittingly grotesque and slimy for a good noir foil.
