I like most of Nolan's stuff but I really didn't have any interest in this until now.

It was the speech. It was the speech that got me.

We shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills; we shall never surrender

?Looks rock solid, and reminds us the director knows that for scenes to be enduring they must be driven by more than flash.

I've already brought up my issue with the "PG-13" rating on other threads, so I won't dwell on that any longer. However, it looked alright. The cinematography looked nice. Also, the directing intrigued me. This might be a decent war film. However, I'm still not that hyped for it. I haven't made up my mind on whether I'll see it or not.

I just can't get excited about the story here. The Allies get absolutely routed, the European mainland gets conquered, and in one of the more bizarre twists of the war Hitler, who could easily and unquestionably have eliminated the Dunkirk pocket........let's them escape. Hitler decided they live. Maybe it was something he did as pretext to his 1941 peace offer to Britain. Who knows.

It isn't a compelling story though. At all. I'm guessing they will change history and have the surviving Allies miraculously escape the Mainland as the Germans are in hot pursuit. When in reality, the Panzer commanders were begging Hitler to let them mop the remaining pocket up. Meh.

I'm a sucker for basically and WWII movie, so I'm sure I'll go see this. The fact that Nolan is directing and Hardy stars is just icing on the cake!

Has Nolan taken notes and pointers on how to stage action from Snyder? In fact, it looks very Snydery in terms of colour grading and aesthetic. That can only be a good thing. Though I don't expect him to live up to Snyder's excellence.?

You mean the excellent filmmaker that brought us Sucker Punch and that very boring and stupid Owls animated flick? Just making sure we're on the same page.

He never apologizes for anything. I think he's too busy selling pictures of his ugly, naked mom to skinny pimple-headed nerds.

Yeah, after the genuine stupidity and awfulness of The Dark Knight Rises and Interstellar, I'm going to keep my expectations in check. Nolan is on one serious downward spiral. Will this movie pull him out of the tail spin? (or bad TALE spin?)

Yeah, after the genuine stupidity and awfulness of The Dark Knight Rises and Interstellar,?

Still far superior to the craptacular efforts of Thor 2 and Iron Man 2.
