Scott, just curious: what's your favorite book? You know, aside from the Bible?

Aubergine
BigwigSo this is what it takes to get Aubergine to post. A spam post about Jesus.

It's the least predictable thing to get posted here in years.

I thought you were dead. Or maybe I am dead. We are all dead and this is purgatory? But then why is the Christian dude here? LOST?

EpitoooozyScott is still posting? Ugh. If I want to hear about religion, I'll consult Hammerogod

Oh wait...he's dead

Link to a guy who says he went to hell and back.

Umm...Scott. ?It was a joke. I guess you had to be around during the Hammerogod era to get it.

I forgot he existed. My memory is going.

I don't mean to be critical, Mr. Lefler, but this board is now inhabited by something like ten guys, I suspect nearly all of whom are some variation of deeply cynical atheist and/or agnostic. I suppose it's possible you could show the collection of godless sinners we have remaining here a YouTube video that would make us see the light and welcome Jesus into our hearts, saving our souls from an eternity of conscious torment in the pits of hell, but if there is such a video you're going to have to step up your game in figuring out what it is.

Yet another victim of Jesus.

I am a Lutheran, but these days I lean towards deism.

Also hi Ivan. Long time no see.

It's a bit odd all things considered that as fairly typical Christian descriptions of heaven make it sound like a place I don't especially care to visit for a three day weekend, according to people such as the thread starter my only two options are to spend eternity there or eternity being roasted in a bar-be-cue pit.

There is no description of heaven I can imagine that wouldn't get very old after sixty trillion years or so. You can make heaven work as a concept, but it would have to involve removing some ordinary earth-based human reactions, like boredom.

Right. I can see taking a reasonably long view on this as far as how long I personally would want to exist, but there is no way it's going to work once it gets into trillions of years territory. And probably not even near that long. But I mostly just want to see Christians like Scott change up their sales pitch a bit. If you want to convince people that they only get the options of hell and something they claim is paradise, best not make it sound so utterly boring right from the outset. Otherwise you just end up with Hell and Hell-lite.

Maybe when we die, we all go to a big amusement park. The good get to enjoy the rides and get drunk if they want. The bad have to work there and put on costumes and get kicked by little kids that died at a young age.

Systematic Theology is a good book by Dr. Lewis Sperry Shafer. ?Actually, there are several volumes and I have read all of them. ?
