Pretty excited that they're doing a second box set for Martin Scorsese's World Cinema Project. The first set was pretty damn good, even if I wasn't in love with all of the films.

Here's the current upcoming schedule.

I've had Blow Up and Being There on order since Christmas, and will grab Rumble Fish and Othello as soon as I can.

The new Scorsese World Cinema set is filled with films I know nothing about, having only grazingly heard of Taipei Story.

Tampopo is a great film that I need to rewatch, but probably won't buy. The upgrade for Jeanne Dielman is mighty tempting.

no worries

and anyone with Filmstruck can watch Limite, Revenge, and Law of the Border right now if they are so inclined. (I can vouch for Limite as being some real good shit)

I've been eyeing a subscription for Filmstruck for a couple of months (I think it comes to less than 10$ a month), and just need to finally do it. I'll probably have it by the spring. How often do films rotate in availability?

The Turkish director of Revenge is really good. His films are worth checking out. I got them on-line.

Every Friday. Although new stuff gets added every Friday as well.

Also, some potential releases for a third World Cinema Project DVD set: http://www.film-foundation.org/world-cinema?sortBy=title&sortOrder=1&page=1

Saw the new print a few weeks back and it looks fantastic, even taking into account that my baseline was a crappy DVD.

Really looking forward to the Othello release. Only version I've ever seen is my dvd (the 1992 restoration). The wiki article explains some of the problems with that version. One issue that always bugged me was that the 90s-era score was kind of jarring for me. Sounds like this release will have the two 50s versions (Europe & US), so I can't wait to see the original.

If you haven't seen it, it's a bit of a mess, as detailed in the wiki article. And I'm not a Shakespeare expert, so any deviations from the play wouldn't register with me. But the film is just gorgeous. The opening funeral scene has about 10 of my favorite images ever, and that's before the credits even roll.

Why is no one flipping with excitement over Ghost World? I wasn't expecting that one, and it's one of my favorites.

And yes, Jeanne Dielman! That movie is hypnotic to me, and ASMR overload.

I usually just buy films that I have a strong opinion about. However, there's nothing weird about buying all of them.

?I'll never be able to afford it, though. But I can always dream. The reason I say all is because large amounts of their movies I haven't heard of, but I'm sure are good if they're in the Collection.

Flash sale going on today, yo

Touch of Zen, The New World, Wages of Fear, and Solaris to bust the cherry.

Wish they would have waited until Friday when I got paid, but it has begun.
