King Elessar 8Sir, You Are Being Hunted

I'd like a detailed 1000 word summary of your opinion of this game. Immediately, thank you.

EDIT: My time is currently divided between Invisible Inc. (wonderful), Farcry 4 (acceptably fun), and Trine 2 (wonderful).

I went with Super Meat Boy and Kerbal Space Program over the weekend, I think I died about 5,000 times on the first few levels of the second world in S.Meat Boy.

Still waiting on those Sir, you are being hunted impressions, Ke8. I used to post at Kateland, you know. You're kind of hurting my feelings here.

Captain Toad Treasure Tracker (Wii U), which I love.  So glad I bought it...what a great little game.

Not at all. I'd like to hear your impressions of this game. The premise intrigues me, but the mixed reviews are a bit of a worry. 10 words would be fine.

Sure. But I should say that I actually haven't played it all that much, not because I don't enjoy it, but because the style of play one needs to employ to have any chance of surviving doesn't work all that well for me, usually. From my experience you have to be very, very patient or you die in about 2 minutes. Not being too patient, I generally get my head blown off all too soon. Anyway, I like the game. It's pretty much you on a randomly generated island (there are four or five of them on each map and you eventually have to visit all of them) with a passel of "English" robots (pipes and hunting dogs and the like) all intent on ending your life. You have crystal bits you have to collect from each island, and in theory if you collect them all you escape. I have so far never come close to collecting all of them, partially because each time you find one, more (and tougher) robots spawn, and they unhelpfully guard most of the crystals. You can collect various items to distract the robots or kill them with weapons of differing sorts, but its pretty hard to kill more than one at a time - the robots are not Stormtroopers, and are quite good shots, even from a distance - and they quickly start forming groups of two, three or more. Oh yeah, you also have to eat and find medical supplies, which requires going into deserted towns scattered about, which are also more often than not guarded by the robots. So the winning strategy as I understand it involves a lot of slow sneaking and crawling, which as mentioned I get impatient with quickly. I guess enjoyment is going to vary based on how much you like the base concept, because there isn't much to it other than that. There is nobody on the islands except for you and your hunters (one type is actually if you are careful fairly benign) and nothing much to do beyond the "kill or be killed" premise. There are different terrains you can choose from for the islands, but from what I have seen it doesn't impact gameplay much. The graphics are fairly simple, but work for the game, and there is a nice touch where whenever the robots start getting anywhere near you, you hear their creepy robot chattering. Also a nice, if minor, bit is you can play "Sir, You Are Being Hunted" or "Madame, You Are Being Hunted". The robots don't discriminate based on sex, and will happily kill you either way.

Thanks, KE8. Still weighing up whether to give it a shot, but, on digital paper, everything sounds exactly my style.

I bought it on sale for 3.99, so I figure even slight enjoyment would make it worth buying at that kind of price. Another thing about reviews - the game has been (at least until recently) in a constant process of upgrading - for instance around the time I purchased it an invincible "landowner" robot was added. So older reviews might not be entirely accurate. Even mine might not be, since I haven't played the game much in the last month and a half.

19.99 now! Will wait for a friendlier price, but cheers for the feedback.
