What do you see on the ground of the Silencio parking?

(especially on the left)

I've tried the dvd slow function.

It's nothing, really, just some paper waste.

What's more interesting is the facade of the club.

First there is the pointing end of the figure above the entrance.

Then, the pointing end is placed strangely uncentered in relationto the entrance itself. Just like the arrows that keep referring to back stage entrance in Winkie's and at Havenhurst.

The facade of the Silencio seems made of mazes. The inverse pointing may represent the cone of light of a projector lightening in blue the word Silencio. A similar symbol to the one in the conference room of Ryan Entertainment, just behind Luigi.

Before arriving near the entrance of the Silencio I see something which looks like the corpse of a woman on the left, surrounded by white marks as in a crime scene... Rebekah's body? (I don't expect a confirmatrion lol). And there are other circular white marks on the right.

Even before the camera starts to move, near the little building for electric stuff, on the left, there is a something which looks like a guy dressed in black lying on the ground... Who could he be?

According to the MD website, the parking lot entrance where this scene is shot is directly across the street to "Ryan Entertainment"... (where you see that black guy eating and looking at Adam hitting the Castigliani limo and then disappearing faster than his shadow.)

More generally, the effect with the camera moving faster and faster and finally running after Rita and Betty gives the impression of a threat.

Nice place...

You touch here on a misconception that I see in many MD fans.

There is no body ... there is no death ... Rebekah does not die ... no hay banda.

The leading theme of the Silencio sequence is of illusion. And it is revealed by Rebekah's fall, yes. But we are to take her collapse as death while the magician (Lynch) tells us not to believe what we see?

Other than the 8 or infinity insignia, I don't see much in the car park. Interesting that there are no cars parked though, and there could be further chalk markings, but they are unclear to the point that it could be misleading to attempt to assign meaning to them.

I monkeyed with the brightness etc. to get this pic, and it's still not that clear.

Indeed the quality of the pic is not extraordinary.

But still, completely on the left, one sees the guy lying on the ground as I said.

And Rebekah's corpse is nearer to the entrance. And when I say that she died, to be more precise, one has helped her. She should not have done that tape recording...

Well I thought that one of you would make the remark lol

The guy lying on the ground of the parking lot is Adam himself.

As noticed in the MD website, in the location section, the parking lot of the Silencio is almost at the same place where Adam is supposed to have hit the Castigliane limo. It is the contrary which happened: in reality, he has been severly beaten up by that guy with his broom who was waiting for him on the other side of the street in front of Ryan Ent.

Your posts are beyond ridiculous. Stop. Are any other forum members going to back me up on this??? gandalf needs help. He's like a little four year-old who keeps making the same mistake over and over and his mother doesn't have the guts to set him straight.

Mulholland Drive has different meanings and brings up different emotions in everyone. We all agree that MD is one of the best films of all time, but none of us agree on all the details. I think there is room for a wide variety of interpretations. Throughout the history of this forum, any theory has been rightly been open to discussion/criticzim. I don't believe Adam (or anyone) is in this scene. I also believe everyone has the right to post their theories. There was a time that most thought it was ridiculous that I believed Diane was sexually abused.

Well, as you probably know I have suggested some time ago that the Silencio would be a forbidden pornographic theater, with anal sex and SM shows.

Actually the reality is worse. The Silencio is 'Hell' and it is written on the post when Betty and Rita call the taxi. And what happened at the Silencio gave horrible nightmares to Diane.

Btw, the entrance we see is excentered because it means symbolically that the real entrance is well hidden.

The 'show' has been organised to get rid of the "Rebekah" problem, a prostitute who has tried to run away from Camilla's prostitution network by doing a compromissing tape recording to protect herself.

When you reinterprete the magician's show, then it corresponds to the questions they were asking to Rebekah while they were torturing her to death.

- where is the tape recording ?
- Rebekah: there is no band!
- there is a band! Where is it?
- Rebekah: No hai banda!

etc... I don't speak spanish but there is certainly an explanation to all these spanish sentences, like "No hari bata". For example orchesta without an 'r' sounds like 'questa...?' . Probably it is the begining of a question.

Concerning the way Rebekah has been tortured, I could be very explicite but I am not sure you all want this.

It suffices to say that there are enough marks on the parking lot and details on Rebakah's make up and costume to imagine a lot of things...

I think that the Silencio scene is a perfect example of how David Lynch mixes at the deepest level the beauty and the ugliness.
